CLU is an AI app, similar to popular AI chat bot LLMs you may be aware of. However there are a few key differences:
CLU is there to listen and be supportive, but is not an assistant. Assistant AIs have access to far more world knowledge, and can perform web searches and advanced reasoning. CLU is much lighter weight, focused on being a companion to celebrate when things are going well and commiserate when things are going rough.
CLU is Private. It runs completely on-device and has no web capability in either direction, and does not even have any analytics so you can be confident your conversations are yours and CLUs alone.
CLU is Unlimited. Because it is running locally on your device, you can message with it for as long as you need; or for as long as your battery lasts (it’s also great on battery life too! 🔋)

For the same cost as a single month of one of the other AI chat bot providers, you can purchase CLU and use it for an unlimited amount of time.

CLU 1.0 supports iPhone 15 Pro or (Pro Max) and all iPhone 16 models or later (this includes the recently released iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air) 📱

CLU app requires iOS 26.0 or later, but I obviously recommend keeping your iOS version up-to-date for the best performance and security on your device

Since CLU works with the Foundation Models Framework that powers Apple Intelligence™, it is required to have Apple Intelligence enabled on your device.
Please ensure your iPhone is connected to WI-FI when enabling Apple Intelligence and give it about 15 minutes to download the Foundation Model (on modern broadband).

CLU will support English at launch, but will will be expanded to support with the same list of languages supported by Apple Intelligence over time

You can Pre-Order the CLU app now and you will automatically be charged/the app downloaded to your iPhone on December 25th 2025.

Technically yes, but there is no sync within CLU at this time. I recommend each person use the TestFlight link and register separately.
I am interested in adding sync, but will not do so until I can be assured of the privacy of your conversations with CLU.
