Turn your old iPhone into a voice-activated recording app 🎙️

I just launched the "pre-order," even though it will be completely free, for a Voice-Activated Recording app for iPhone®

I'm working on a completely on-device and private AI "memories" app 🧠 similar to Plaud which would work with voice recording files from any number of inexpensive recording devices, but trying to get some of these shipped from across the pond 🇨🇳, again, inexpensively was proving to be frustrating.

While I was waiting for shipping and refunds and reshipping it occurred to me... since I'd built a recording feature into this upcoming app, that I could turn some of my old test iPhones into dedicated voice recorders! So I built a very simple app designed to:

• record for long periods of time (up to 24 hours)

• without being interrupted (with old iPhones it's easy to ensure this by invoking Airplane Mode)

• protect data in case of either an app or system crash

  • done through recording in chunks

• one-tap export to share either off-device using Airdrop or to the Files app for Cloud Drive functionality

• automatically combines all the chunks and turns them into a 64 kbps M4A file for great quality

• NO ads or in-app purchases, and only anonymous usage analytics

  • Though I likely will market my future AI Memories app from within it when it eventually launches
